In the last ten years, SSUC has had both a federally-funded environmental audit and local energy audit conducted by St. Lawrence College done on its church building. Recommendations from these two audits are being systematically implemented to make SSUC more environmentally responsible with a smaller energy footprint.
In 2013, SSUC joined Queens Students in Project Community Garden to transform the front lawn into a community garden. Garden produce goes to Loving Spoonful, a local initiative committed to enhancing access to fresh, healthy food, particularly among low income Kingston.
