The United Church of Canada (www.united-church.ca)

 In its 1968 New Creed, The United Church of Canada declared:

            We are called to be the Church . . .

            to live with respect in Creation.

In its 2006 Song of Faith, The United Church of Canada proclaimed:

God is creative and self-giving,

            generously moving

            in all the near and distant corners of the universe…

Each part of creation reveals unique aspects of God the Creator,

            who is both in creation and beyond it…

In grateful response to God’s abundant love,

            we bear in mind our integral connection

            to the earth and one another;

we participate in God’s work of healing and mending creation…

… we embrace the present,

            embodying hope, loving our enemies,

            caring for the earth,  choosing life.

From a statement issued on August 29/14As people of faith:  The United Church believes that the Earth can't be seen only as a source of resource extraction and wealth generation, but as a community in which we live and move and have our being.

At the denominational level, The United Church of Canada addressing climate change with Canadian partners, such as Kairos, the Canadian Council of Churches and Citizens for Public Justice and global partners such as the World Council of Churches and Religions for Peace.  Many local congregations are engaged in such initiatives as forming green teams, planting community gardens and installing solar panels.
